Attending the "Fun Hypnosis Workshop"
On November 23, 2025, DreamDive members attended the "Fun Hypnosis Workshop," an experiential event hosted by Gensai Jumonji, known by his epithet "The Flash Hypnotist."

Gensai Jumonji is recognized as Japan's fastest hypnotist for his ability to instantly guide people into hypnotic states using human consciousness and psychology. He is a pioneer in establishing hypnosis as an accessible and entertaining show format.

Through firsthand experience with hypnosis, we gained several important insights.
Hypnosis Requires Acceptance
Hypnosis is fundamentally based on the recipient's receptive attitude. A confrontational stance of "Try to hypnotize me!" will not lead to successful hypnosis, and nothing beyond what the mind is willing to accept will occur. What matters is an open mindset of "I'm willing to give this a try." Even starting with a feeling of "playing along," one gradually begins to feel genuinely under the hypnotist's influence — a fascinating experience.
Hypnosis Is Communication
Trust between the hypnotist and the subject is essential. Without the belief that "this person's technique could work on me," hypnosis cannot take hold. On the other hand, the hypnotist reads in real time how far the subject is willing to go and adjusts their approach accordingly.
To build this trust, demonstrations using magic tricks and body mechanics are performed before the hypnosis itself, gradually increasing the subject's willingness to be receptive — a process we found deeply compelling.
Connections to Lucid Dream Research
Lucid dreaming, which DreamDive researches, and hypnosis share the common theme of altered states of consciousness. "Suggestibility" in hypnosis and "awareness and control within dreams" in lucid dreaming are both phenomena related to the flexibility of consciousness. Through this experience, we gained insights into the similarities between hypnotic and dream mechanisms, as well as the potential for applying hypnotic techniques to lucid dream induction.
DreamDive will continue to explore various practices and knowledge related to altered states of consciousness as we advance our research and social implementation of lucid dreaming.
